Day 25, June 25th
Joh 1:1-14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) He was in the beginning with God. (3) All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. (4) In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. (5) The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (6) There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. (7) He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. (8) He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. (9) There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. (10) He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. (11) He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. (12) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, (13) who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (14) And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Just a note to say I thank my God in every remembrance of you! You encourage me daily with your posts. I trust I am more faithful in sharing the gospel because of you guys' example.
ReplyDeleteToday we went Mcdonalds for some lunch. I took Johnmark and Sissy with me. The place was very crowded with many young girls so we had to share a table with a young lady named Brianna. She was about 8. We asked her why there were so many girls there. She said they were attending a "charm camp" and this was their lunch spot for the day. I was trying to notice if her manners were extraordinary for an 8 yr. old attending charm camp. They seemed ordinary. We asked her where this "charm school" was being held. She said 1st Christian Church. So, then we asked her if she was learning any bible stuff there along with how to be polite. She said no, just learning about good manners and such. Then we asked her if she went to a church, she said she used to but not any more. She mentioned that she moved recently and that she really did like going to her last church. We asked her what she thought about heaven and how to get there. She said she did not know anything about that. Sissy (Jenni) gave her the gospel and we talked to her a while about Jesus and how good He is to us, how He loves us so much that He died for us. We told her that Jesus was born and His mommy was Mary, that He was always perfect! He never did anything wrong, ever. She listened and was very sweet. Neat encounter.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, my husband and eldest son James (and friend) are at Big Splash today. Bill called to tell me he overheard James in the back seat asking his friend, Jack, what he thought it took to go to heaven. Bill said it was all on his own. He said that Jack at first said "WHAT?" and said to James, can you say that again? So James did. Then Jack said "I guess you have to kill yourself or something" Bill thought Jack meant, well you have to die to get to heaven. Then James told Jack you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ to get to heaven, He is the ONLY way to get there.
Bill was so excited and so was I.
This challenge is affecting our entire family. We praise God who is Mighty to Save for these encounters.

Hey guys, it is me again. We just had another washing machine repair man come over; our 4th one in two years. His name was Hugh. He basically told us we needed to buy a new machine. As sad as that was for me, I decided to give him the gospel as I know that is much more important than being upset over spending $800 soon (so Jimmy this one is turning out to be more costly than your steak purchase a few weeks ago!) Hugh was a very interesting character. Bill and I spent a good 45 minutes with him after his work was finished. He said to go to heaven there are three things needed. Faith, Honesty and Belief in God. We had an in depth conversation and found out he used to attend Faith Lutheran Church, does not go much now. He wanted to spend a lot of time on his view that the bible was translated so many times, that noone could know the exact correct translation, that it contained errors because of the translation. He went off on the 1000 long day theory, Darwin, the gap theory. He was trying to take us on many rabbit trails and we kept pointing him back to Christ and the gospel. He also went on and on about his dead grandma who had tons of the bible memorized and that they found out, to their dismay, she had given over $25,000 to Oral Roberts Ministries in the '80's. I then told him that I want my money (God's money really) to go to a church that consistently proclaims the true gospel of Jesus according to the scriptures. A church like Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso, OK. As he left, Bill said if the bible is full of errors we are all in trouble and we have no hope. Bill asked him if that was the excuse he would give on judgment day; that he didn't have the right info. They went back and forth a bit more and Bill again gave him Christ and Christ crucified as the only truth and there lies our hope.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting discussion.

I had a wonderful conversation with a young college student, she is very bright (intellectual) and extremely nice. We talked about everything from college, to different religions, different denominations, life in general and most importantly the Gospel. I won’t go through the details of our conversation but I finished by telling her this; all of life is cascading toward one final event and that event is the day we all draw our last breath and step into eternity. When that time comes, and it will for all of us, everyone who has not trusted in the person and work of Jesus Christ will quickly realize that the world and false religions only offered them a hollow and hopeless life and eternity. Only Jesus rose from the dead, only Jesus lived a perfect life and only Jesus can save us on that day when we stand before the throne of God to give an account. Will you appeal to your works or His?
